Can OI server support OPCDA server ? Which license is required?

DA- and OI- servers are DDE, SuiteLink and OPC DA classic server.

OI-Gateway is among others OPC DA (UA) client.
InTouch View ---SuiteLink-----OI-Gateway----OPC DA ----OPC Server (for example TopServer).

OI-Gateway V5.0 and newer, only for a Mqtt connection OI-Gateway need a License.

The Mqtt connection requires a license (standard or professional).
All other connection types (DDE, SuiteLink, OPC, OPC-UA, ArchestrA, and InTouch) do not need a license. (OIGateway.pdf, CDP 2023 R2 pdf, page 39). You need a professional License if you like to clone the OI-Gateway.

(TopServer is a SuiteLink Server too!)

Hi James, I wasn't completely sure what you are trying to achieve. But here is a few thoughts.

Yes, if your OI-server in InTouch is supposed to connect to a 3'rd party OPC DA server, then you can use the OPC Client setup on the OI-Server.

Yes, if you want a 3'rd party application to connect to OI-server via OPC DA. Actually one of the enhancement in later releases is the ability so turn this feature OFF in case you do not need it.

The illustration shows in purple box the AVEVA application. OI-server being either OPD DA client or OPC DA server.
