I have data in ETAP which stores data in SQLDB and MongoDB. The data is coming from RTUs through the IEC protocol.
Is there a way to get this data into AVEVA historian?

Hi Kholofelo,
Can you please provide more information on the type of data you are looking to share to the Historian from ETAP? Is it real-time time-series data?
ETAP is capable of sharing data through OPC UA. Generally, it doesn't share simulation data but can share through OPC UA for any captured and stored data from devices or third-party applications (including PI).
Alternatively, we can get the RTU data directly from RTUs using the IEC protocol. Is there a compelling reason the data needs to be stored in ETAP first?
Thanks,

Hi Pierre
Thanks for your reply,
1. I did OPC DA connection straight to RTU through IEC Protocol and configure the Historian to the Gateway. However, the data only shows 'zero' instead of the actual value. In OPC diagnostics the tag appears to be Yellow with Quality status of "Uncertain=0040."
2. For the OPCUA, what will be the OPCUA Server Endpoint URL? OPCUA does not automatically populate any endpoints open for connection.
3. we are using ETAP SCADA to view data from the plant hence the data needs to go through ETAP, I also heard the RTU only allows single connection, and it is already sending data to ETAP. Might be the reason for the above OPC connection to record only zeros? We need AVEVA historian to better analyze the data and reports.
4. The data does not really have to be real-time data.
5. For now, I have written query to extract data from the ETAP database into AVEVA historian runtime database, but I would like to do this the normal way.
Hi Kholofelo,
Our support team can help you troubleshoot your OPC connection. Can you please submit a support ticket on the GCS portal, or call the AVEVA support number?
