Edge 2023 and 2023R2 in Integration Studio

Hi Team,

I noticed that the current version for Edge available in InStudio is 2020R2SP1. When can we expect the AVEVA Edge 2023/2023R2 to be available on InStudio?

Also, I have a query regarding template creation. Is it possible to have a template with two or more nodes for Edge template, such as,

a Development Node and a Runtime Node, or

a Runtime Node and a Client Node,

similar to what we can do for system platform templates?

Regards,

Arul

  • Hello Arul,

When utilizing the default system suite definition for Edge images within Integration Studio, you are bound to a single node as part of the project template/node configuration setting. However there is a workaround but it's a little more work intensive than the basic setup that is provided natively.

The method is to create a new project template that will represent your environment and specifying the "System Suite for 2023" or higher definitions.. however the key part is when creating the template or instance do not select any of the launch parameters. This will give you a clean image to install the applications onto (e.g Edge). You can now create a clone image as a base template and create as many as needed.

    Highlight steps are detailed below:

    1. Create a new project template and select "System Suite for 2023" or high definition, click Next

    2. Create your node configuration, Click Next

    3. Leave the launch parameters unchecked, click Next

    4. Specify your shutdown behavior, Click Next

    5. Create your project template

    6. Create a new instance, however do not check any of the launch parameters as this will install applications not need.

    7. Once the image is done building, go into the environment and install the necessary applications for your development/testing purposes.

    8. Additional go into any of the created projects(s) and create a clone template for future usage.
