Historian logging of a specific Real tag

Is it possible to inhibit (or disable) the historian logging of a specific Real tag based on another Boolean tag value?

I know we have the $HistoricalLogging which will completely turn off the historical logging if we set it to 0.

Is there a way to do it for a specific tag?

  • Hi,

Just for clarification, are you using InTouch Historical logging or Store your data in AVEVA Historian?

I'm not aware of any way to control a specific tag, but it would be interesting to know the reasoning behind turning off your logging during certain periods.

A creative way could be to set up a memory tag that you copy your data to on data change, then you have more control of the value change that is stored in history and you could inhibit the copy of value when needed.

Or have two tags, one for visualization and one that you log connecting to the same datasource, since historian don't log tags of bad quality you could set the reference on the logged tag to a blank value, thus forcing it to be 'bad'. not the most beautiful solution, but if it works =)
