Intouch data logging into Flow software.

Dear Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to inquire about the compatibility of Aveva Intouch 2023 with our existing Flow software. Specifically, I would like to know if Intouch 2023 integrates seamlessly with Flow software.

In our current setup, we have been using an older version of Intouch, which integrates perfectly with Flow software. We can view and interact with the data from Intouch within the Flow software without any issues.

However, since upgrading to Aveva Intouch 2023, we have encountered a problem. Despite configuring the integration settings, we are no longer able to see the data from Intouch 2023 within the Flow software. This has caused some disruptions to our workflow, and we are eager to resolve this issue.

Could you please advise on the following:

1. Is Aveva Intouch 2023 compatible with Flow software?
2. Are there any specific configuration settings or updates required to enable the integration?
3. If there are known issues with the integration, are there any workarounds or patches available?

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or support you can provide to help us resolve this issue and get the integration working smoothly again.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

  • Hi Siyaphilia, hope you are doing well !  In your current setup you say Intouch integrates seamlessly with Flow , but Intouch in any version does not have a direct integration with Flow, they use a common protocol to interact with data ( in older version its OPC DA ) , so in your new version you will need to find a way to interact between Intouch and Flow, so to answer your points

    1) Yes its compatible based on the correct protocol you select ( do not use OPC DA in the newer version )

    2) Yes there are, its a custom integration in any version so you will need to find a way , my preferred method would be OPC UA and web browser/ REST to interact

    3) There are no known issues but OPC DA as a protocol used in legacy versions would be very hard to make it work

Intouch and Flow Historian can interact very well but if i were doing this, i would use AVEVA Historian which has fully supported interactions with AVEVA Intouch and compared to flow is much more superior in its work, something for you as a designer to think about

  • Thank you very much for the response and suggestions. It helped me.
