Citect Driver SIMPPI Not supported on new Windows supported ?

Hi,

A customer will use SIMPPI  driver with a Citect SCADA 2018. We have say to him that this driver has not been officialy test on new Windows operating system. Customer is in STRESS.

  1. Do you know if some other customer have use the SIMPPI driver on new Windows Operating System ?
  2. Do you know some problems with this driver on Windows Operating System ?

    I'm not aware of any problems running this driver on modern OS. Especially since it is using a serial communications channel (RS-232) to communicate with the PLC (via a RS-485 adapter) and the PPI port. The real question is, can you still buy computer hardware that has an RS-232 port on it?!
    I'd recommend setting [SIMPPI]OverrideOSProtection=1 to remove the warning popup on startup.
    As long as you are confident your RS-232 port is functioning correctly, there shouldn't be any real reason why this driver just doesn't work as expected on a modern OS.
    I think the driver development group are moving away from stamping each driver per OS, since it creates too much overhead. It is the responsibility of the person commissioning the system to test that the driver functions correctly in their specific environment. Of course if you experience any technical issues, please contact Citect Support to help diagnose the issue further.
