Hello All, I am hoping I can get some help with an issue that I have. I am using Citect SCADA 2016 and trying to import tags from my OPC Server. The OPC server I am using is RSLinx classic OEM. The OPC Server is the same computer as citect, therefore it is all local. My server is functional, I have proven this via RSI OPC Test Client as well as Excel. Tags can be read and written by both of the mentioned programs.
When I try to import the tags in Citect I run into the same problem no matter what minor detail or configuration change I make. (which makes me believe I do not have something configured correctly. After selecting the Database type, which I choose OPC the next criteria is External Database. When I select the + on RSLinx OPC Server it appears to connect to my OPC server named "PLC" I select the + and then Offline and Online show up in the tree. I cannot select anything in Offline. when I select the + on Online it will show me all the arrays in the PLC. But nowhere will it show me any of my Boolean tags.
If I just leave Online selected and select OK, then save. Run through the Import Tags button at the top. Select my I/O Device, database, external database etc. and press import I get an error.
0 OPC tags imported
0 OPC tags excluded
I press yes.
And get the error message: Could not open the external database. Check to make sure that the external database is not in use by another application and try again.
I hope this does not sound like I am running on and on, just trying to provide my step by step approach. Hopefully someone can give me a hand in fixing what I may have wrong.
