Citect SCADA Font Enhancement

Hi at all,
I just read about a font family called B612 created by Airbus for Aircraft cockpits. It's open source and probably a good font for Citect SCADA that we can install and use by default https://softwareforums.aveva.com/cfs-file/__key/system/emoji/1f609.svg

The genesis of B612
In 2010, Airbus initiated a research collaboration with ENAC and Université de Toulouse III on a prospective study to define and validate an “Aeronautical Font”: the challenge was to improve the display of information on the cockpit screens, in particular in terms of legibility and comfort of reading, and to optimize the overall homogeneity of the cockpit.
2 years later, Airbus came to find Intactile DESIGN to work on the design of the eight typographic variants of the font. This one, baptized B612 in reference to the imaginary asteroid of the aviator Saint Exupéry, benefited from a complete hinting on all the characters.

I’ve attached a screenshot where I compared it with some text that comes with Citect SCADA 2018. B612 is the lower line.

  • Good find Dirk.

I just want to re-assure that the fonts chosen for the 2018 Workspace involve quite a bit of science in themselves in terms of console legibility and in terms of screen size and viewing distance. The Lucida Console in particular is a very strong font to use with SCADA systems due to the common mixture of uppercase and numerals together.

I have a paper in the works which provides an overview of the style guides for the workspace and library objects.
  • Hi Bradley,

you are right, I missed to have a look at the Faceplates where for all numbers the font Lucida Console is used which is very good readable there. But it doesn't look good for plain text where mostly Arial or Calibri is used.
