Citect Historian 2016 Creating database

Good day everyone.

I'm trying to create Historian server using Historian Server wizard. I have 2 SQL Server Instances on my PC. 1st of them is Default instance (MSSQL Server 2008), other one is SQLSERVER2014 Instance. When I select 2008 instance the Historian server is created without any error. The next steps comes normally. But when I select 2014 version instance I get "Creating Historian database failed, executenonquery failed for database 'master' " error.

Thank you all for any help that can offer.

  • Hi Nizami,

It might be worth checking the following:

If you are using an existing installation of SQL Server, you need to check that
Microsoft SQL Server Backward Compatibility Components are installed. This can
be confirmed in the Windows Add/Remove Programs tool.

Also check the SQL Server security authentication mode is set to mixed mode (SQL Server and Windows Authentication).

    Kind regards
    Olivier
  • Hi Olivier,

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I am using an existing installation of SQL Server and "Microsfot SQL Server 2005 Backward compatibility" was installed.
I installed SQL Server with a mixed mode authentication option.

    Best Regards.
    Nizami.
  • Hi Nizami,
I'm not sure what the issue could be then. It sounds like you have done everything correctly. Are you using SQL Server security or Windows Authentication to connect to the SQLSERVER2014 Instance?
I think your best option now is to contact AVEVA Global Support and get them to help troubleshoot the issue.
    Kind regards
    Olivier
  • Hi Olivier,

I tried using both SQL Server and Windows Authentication authentication modes (my Windows account has an administrator role, so it is considered a sysadmin account in SQL). The results were the same.

Yes, finally I will contact customer support. Now for some time I try to find a solution to this problem myself.

    Best Regards.
    Nizami.
  • Hi Nizami,
