Multiuser engineering in Citect

Dear All,

is there the best approach on how to set a multi-user engineering in Citect in a concurrent way?
For instance, having the project in a network shared folder is a good starting.

I am wondering if with the use of Citect Studio (with previous version was a bit easier)  this concurrent access to the project is something possible to achieve.

Is the use of cloud solutions (read Azure) something that can help to access and develop Citect applications in concurrent ways?

I guess the best is to have no include projects and each engineer will work on a dedicated include project. In the end, everything needs to converge in a unique project and this is a bit extreme solution.

Quite open to any ideas!

  • Hi Antonio,
There is a plan to add Citect SCADA's development and runtime environment to AVEVA Connect in the near future.
This would be a great place to have multi-user engineering. There may be some enhancements required within Citect Studio to make this fully work.
I have seen many customers implement the use of file servers for multi-user engineering, but the biggest limitations are obviously graphics editing (only one user open a page at a time), don't ever compile on file server (file lock issues for other users). I've also seen other customers use source control to manage check-in and check-out of include projects.
