CITECT PROBLEM

Good morning All,

I sincerely need your help. Our wheelhouse CPU was defective and a new one purchased.

After installing the new CPU (Citect Scada,  Version 8.10,  Project_8994), a message popped up saying " CITECT HAS FOUND THAT YOUR PROTECTION KEY HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR THIS VERSION. IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN AUTHENTICATION CODE, PLEASE PRESS UPDATE, ENTER THE CODE ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTION, THEN RESTART CITECT"

The above had been done severally with no luck after the 106 characters Authentication Code was received.

Please what should I do?

Thank you in anticipation of your assistance.

  • I presume you're not talking about the PC's Central Processing Unit? (CPU)

Since you've only half described your problem, we have to make some assumptions.
What I assume is that you went onto the licence portal on AVEVA, punched in your licence key, copied the authentication code, and pasted it into CiUSafe to update your licence. Is that correct?

Most of the time, issues updating a licence are due to copying a trailing space/carriage return character at the end of the authentication code. Try copying it again and make sure not to copy beyond the last character
  • If you are updating a very old hardware dongle, it might be necessary to update the Key ID in the license database (stored on AVEVA servers). This will ensure a correct auth code will be issued and work with your key.
It would be helpful to let us know what error code you receive from CiUsafe when you try to update they key and it doesn't succeed. Check that your key is in support as well, if not, you will need to talk to sales about getting the key back into support to be eligible for an upgrade.
