Composite Genies Linked Equipment

Dear All.

Until now We did not find any documentation of equipment handled parameters of composite genies. Some names are self explaining, while others do not.

In order to minimize the communicated tags, We would like to shrink down the IO as much as possible for Our purpose. What does it do to the object if We omit some of the tags in the equipment definition? Will it slow down the performance? Or may it even risk system crashes?

Thanks for all help

Thomas

  • Thomas,

We are going full steam ahead with the SA style system using the Composite Genies and where concerned about that very thing as well. We found that any "internal" tags don't count against your tag count, only the Cicode and I/O tags do.

If you look in the help on the specific CG type you are using, it will list the required equipment items that the Genie expects to see. We have several custom equipment types, based on the included types shipped with the Example_SA project.

As an example, we use digital alarms with the alarm limits displayed as a PLC tag. There is some custom configuration needed to do that though.

To finely answer your question, no the system will not crash, you will get compile errors and warnings. It will not really effect performance either. At run time, there may be #ASC displayed, or items might not be shown correctly.
