Failing to install Citect Scada 2018 R2

Getting an error that terminates the installation after trying to install "VC2008Redist_x86"

any one knows something about this issue?

  • Hi ,
Can you check Windows Event Viewer log for details about the error. You can also run the installer manually from the install folder \Citect\ISSetupPrerequisites\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 C++ Redistributable\ and see if there is any more information why the install fails. I haven't seen this issue reported or experienced it myself, so may be something specific to your system. Also let us know what operating system you are running and what Windows Updates you have installed lately.
  • There is some strings about this kind of problem on the net , tried every thing , installed with the antivirus and windows firewall paused, installed as administrator, the thing is that VC2008Redist_x86 list as already installed on applications and features

this is the event viewer log:

    and this is windows:

thanks for your help , hope to find a solution to this problem , it appears not to be a new problem , so some strings related to win7 also , but havent found any solutions that work

  • You could try the following steps:
    - Clean all Windows temporary files (i.e. C:\Windows\Temp folder)
    - Uninstall all current versions of Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable (warning: other programs may need these, so you might have to reinstall them as well)
    - Reboot the machine
    - Reinstall Citect
If that fails again, it might be that Citects version of VC2008Redist is not compatible with your Windows version, so:
    - Download and reinstall a newer version of VC2008Redist from Microsoft Support Site.
  • this is a relatively new PC , had it for a month , I had the same kind of problem while installing the updates for Vijeo Designer 6.2 , in the end had to reinstall windows for that , but at this point reinstalling windows will be a disaster for me , having to reinstall 10's of programs ,it might take some working days. Tried all of the above, and nothing help yet
  • Hi Santiago,
If you can't install Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable that you download from Microsoft website, then you will need to open a support ticket with Microsoft. This appears to be something specific to your environment. Wishing you all the best in resolving this issue. Do share any findings or solutions you get with the forum.
