How CitectSCADA alarm & events logging works with AVEVA Historian (formally wonderware)?

Hello,

I have setup Citect SCADA 2018 R2, Citect SCADA Connector & Wonderware Historian 2017 Update 3.

And followed the configuration as per Citect SCADA Connector help guideline.

But I didn't understand the working of Alarm & Event logging in AVEVA Historian. Can anyone give the details explanation?

As per my observation, I can see only process record using Wonderware Historian Client tool "Query" in Query type - Alarm history! Not as Alarm record available in Citect SCADA alarm page neither Active Alarm nor Alarm Summary?

  • I normally just query the AlarmEventHistory view in the historian database (not the Alarm history via the Hist Client Query tool).
    Note that:
    1. you need to select EACH alarm in Citect to have the "Historian" = TRUE (only those alarms will historise)
    2. "log events" will not be historised (eg operator SP changes, mode selections, etc) unless you have built your system to have explicit alarms configured for these actions
    3. we used advanced alarms but these do do seem to come through to historian correctly (just get the initial one and without the correct description).
