Citect 2018 Run as a Windows Service - Dependencies

Hi All,

We are running Citect Runtime Manager as a service on several clients.  The whitepaper in Tech Note TN8935 indicates that "FlexNet Licensing Service" should be set as dependency for the service if using local soft licenses.  Is this still required or recommended for Citect 2018? Has anyone experienced issues because this wasn't set?

Installing updates appears to reset the dependency to only "ArchestraA Data Store."

Tim

  • Hi Tim,
This TN refers to the following versions:
    CitectSCADA 2015 (v7.50) - Vijeo Citect 2015 (v7.50)
You are using 2018 and the Configurator has the easy check-box to select if you want to run as Service.
After the upgrade normally the configurator will be prompt once again to make sure that some dependency (if missing) can be restored.
If you are still having issues please make sure to raise a case via the Case Manager or send an email to citect.support@aveva.com.
I am not aware of any issues that you mentioned.
  • Thanks Antonio. I take it then that it is not necessary to make the Citect Runtime Service depend on the FlexNet Licensing Service?
  • You may try without.
To be honest I have an HMI setup that detects the license and even after windows startup it works without setting any extra license dependency.
The best is to try and see if it is working.
In case it doesn't reach out support!
