Scandinavian characters

I have a problem with Scandinavian characters (äöå). The characters are displayed correctly when the PC is running Windows 10 1909. The new PC is running Windows 10 20H2 and the Scandinavian characters are not displayed correctly. Citect Scada 2018 Update 28 has in the general section of the text object properties a "Script" menu, where you can choose to use the "western" character set and then the Scandinavian characters will be displayed correctly in the graphics.
Is there any global method that would make Scandinavian characters work, because otherwise I have to fix all the text objects on the graphics pages manually and a similar problem is also on the alarm screen's alarm texts.

  • Hi
Can you make sure to use the Scandinavian languages in the OS regional and language definitions?
    1) Check the language setting of the current user in Display language, Input language, Format and location are the same in all the options
    2) the language applied is correct to display "scandic letters" (ie: Swedish)
    3) then apply those setting to all the users (welcome screen and new user account) by using the “Copy your current settings to:” options present in the Regional Settings\Administrative\Welcome Screen and new user accounts.
    4) set also the “Current language for non-Unicode programs to the same language as well
  • Hi Timo

One 'Global' thing / Quick fix is perhaps the parameter AnsiToOEM in Citect.ini

You  need to update all graphic pages and pack & recompile project after AnsiToOEM adjustment, or restore the backup from previus working citect version..

You can Use the 'Computer Setup Editor' to adjust the Citect.ini Parameter.

  • Warning! This parameter for Scandinavian characters is not needed! If your project had 0 from day1, keep it 0. If it was 1 keep it 1 making sure that all the includes have been developed with the same setting.
Here it looks like something with the CodePage setting of Windows.
  • Solved. Unicode UTF-8 is selected by default on our new computers. I don't know if this option has become active on the new Windows 10 20H2. There has been no problem with the Scandinavian character set with older Windows 10.
