Citect 7.5 client won't launch

We are attempting to set up a server with multiple client stations in our office to test the scenario on site.

Our server is up and running. We've run the setup-editor as a control-client. Set the network address under Servers to the server IP. Configured our client (on a VM) to be on the same network as the server. Mapped the network drive for the location of the Citect HMI file on the server and set that in the Run parameter of the Citect.ini file, as well as verified that the .ini file has the correct computer role and tried setting the full license setting to both 1 and 0. Re-compiled the project just in case and hit run. The project will not launch and says "The Citect process (Client) is stopped."

If I change the run setting to run off the Citect file on the VM, I get all the data just the same as the server copy, but I want this to run as a client mirroring the server.

Any tips?

  • It sounds like the client does not have a client license installed, and either there is no client license available from the server, or it is not connecting to the server across the network. If you look in the syslog.dat file in the Citect Logs folder, it should say that it is shutting down because of failing to get a license.

If you run in stand-alone server mode, then it can run in demo mode without a license. There is no demo for networking mode (client/server on separate PCs).
