Slow Cell Editing in Citect Studio (Version 8.2)

Anyone else experience super slow grid editing in Citect? When I click on a cell to edit, it will take at least a few seconds until it actually selects the cell or applies the text I'm inputting. Very frustrating. Only seems to happen on 1 out of 2 Citect installations in our redundant. This issue seems to have started once I upgraded from 2016 to 2018. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • I'd see if there was any file access issues on the machine or A/V. See Task Manager for CPU usage as well. Be sure to apply latest Patch available for OS and Citect.

  • At the time of install there was an issue setting the password in Citect that was resolved by setting the ArchestrA Data Store service to the local system account (as recommended by Citect Support). So I've always suspected this installation could be an issue.

  • It might be worth uninstalling Citect and ADS, then install fresh again. It definitely seems specific to a machine/environment. So not much we can do to help.

  • Thanks, and it's something I'll have to try when we have the downtime, but I thought since I had those permission issues above (even after installing/uninstalling several times), that it would point to a common issue. Never had a problem like this with any other Citect version installation, and my thought is that it's permissions issue caused by all the extra security and Configurator stuff I'll never need. The tech I spoke to seemed to know the answer to my previous problem as if he was aware there are permission issues with some installations.

  • Hi  ,

I recommend installing December 14, 2021 Update, which also requires / includes an upgrade to PCS (from 4.6.1 to 4.6.2). Then set the Server password in Configurator again.

I'll ask the Citect Support team if they are seeing this commonly with other customers as well. I couldn't find anything from my searching.

    Kind regards
