I use a SIXNET RTU/PLC in my application/system. Up through Citect v2016, the SXDIRECT driver was included as an option in the driver selection section of the initial installation, and everything worked fine. Since Citect/AVEVA SCADA version 2018, the SXDIRECT driver has not been included as an option in the driver selection section of the initial installation. As a result, I can read variables from the PLC via the MODNET driver, but I can't write to the PLC without the SXDIRECT driver. This requires me to download the driver executable and install it separately after the initial installation. That's all fine and good. However, I noticed a note on the driver download page that states . . .
"Please note; when used with AVEVA Plant SCADA this driver version requires installation of Legacy Microsoft Redistributables."
I also found this note on all of the previous versions of this driver over the past fifteen years. In this case, I downloaded the latest version of the SXDIRECT driver: v. 1.01.00.000. Does anyone know what Legacy Microsoft Redistributables need to be downloaded and installed in order to make these drivers work correctly, or if this is just a generic CYA notice in case they don't quite work correctly with my installation?
Any help determining if there are really any other software products that I need to install in order to make this driver work correctly would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
