PlantScada 2023 as a Service

Hi,

We're going to configure our Primary and Secondary servers that are running PlantScada 2023 to run as a service.

I noticed that unlike PowerScada there isn't a Client Runtime application to run specifically as a Display/Control Client. The shortcuts in PSO use modifiers to run the Client a specific way.

I was wondering if I open the client to view the runtime on the servers that are configured to run as a service, do I need to run it in a specific way or is it ok just to start the client?

Also, we have some OPC devices in the project. I know that if I run an OPC Da Server in the project I need to configure the DCOM to run it under a specific user. Are there similar considerations if PlantScada is an OPC Client when running as a service?

Many thanks,

Gavin

  • You can just start a client, this will start  service display client.

By default the Plant SCADA Runtime Manager runs under NT SERVICE\Citect Runtime Manager Virtual Service Account. You can run OPC Server and the Plant SCADA Runtime Manager under the same account. Be aware that if you install an update this service is reverted back to the NT SERVICE\Citect Runtime Manager account. Another option is to modify the DCOMCNFG settings and keep the Plant SCADA Runtime Manager under NT SERVICE\Citect Runtime Manager account.
