Aveva access anywhere using CITRIX

Hi Experts , We are using Aveva Plant Scada access Anywhere . Aveva Access anywhere is using RDP to connect with Server . I just wanted to know that can we use CITRIX  instead of RDP

  • We have used Citrix for many years successfully.  You need to have View Only licenses on your Citect Server (enough to support your estimated simultaneous users).  So if you have 5 View Only Client Licenses then 5 people at one time can be connected.

We have recently transitioned from Citrix to AppStream (IT driven).

  • Hello  , the PSAA is enabling a user to access Plant SCADA via an HTML5 browser, utilizing under the hood rdp technology. So not sure where you want to use Citrix instead of RDP, I guess you might mean that you want to publish the browser app instead of using RemoteApp the Citrix technonolgy. If that is the case then yes, this is not something related to Plant SCADA or Access Anywhere rather than how you will handle your browser.

Just to add some info on the response of  , it is not just View Only licenses you need. What you need is:

    1. Plant SCADA licenses, Control and/or View Only, depending on the usage you will do of the PSAA client

    2. Windows CAL licenses for running the RDP sessions, if you are planning to run more than 2 sessions simultaneously.

  • Hi  ,

If you want to use CITRIX, you can. You wouldn't be able to use AVEVA Plant SCADA Access Anywhere. Since PSAA is based on RDP technology and it is not possible to swap that out.

To use CITRIX, you would need appropriate Control Client and/or ViewOnly licenses for the number of client sessions you expect to be running at peak times. You would also need to license the CITRIX solution. The configuration and management of the Citect runtime is your responsibility. See in the help or forum for "Thin Client" or "Terminal Services" for recommendations.

    Kind regards
    Olivier
