Just a quick addition to my question, experience with usage of ANY full backup solution similar to VEEAM will also be of great value. Thanks !
Hi Jurgen,
I have several customers using VEEAM as a backup mechanism.
Overall experience seems to be good.
During the actual back-up process, in some Plant SCADA log files there may appear a small gap in time,
but I have not heard of any real problems with that. No comms faults or visible trend gaps that were reported to me.
Ok, many thanks. We will test it out first on a training system before putting it actually in production.
Just repeating my reply to you on Schneider Forum for the benefit of others here:
I've heard of other customers using Nutanix on Plant SCADA environments.
The important thing to be aware of is what licensing method you are using. If you are using FLM (from Plant SCADA 2020 R2 / 8.30 and earlier) or AEL (from Plant SCADA 2023 / 8.40 and later) they are both sensitive to snapshots being taken. The most robust solution in those cases is to use Sentinel hardware dongle with AnywhereUSB product. Also some care must be made to ensure runtime is not impacted (mostly CPU and disk access) while backups are being made. Hope others in the community can share their experience with VEEAM with you.
