AVEVA is looking to understand how customers are using the Equipment model within your project specific use case.  For awareness, Equipment definitions create logical groupings that allow you to organize your project using a hierarchical design. Each definition brings together the base SCADA properties into a single entity that can be easily replicated within your project. If you would be open to sharing your Plant SCADA application, and are using Equipment, we would welcome the opportunity to analyze your shared project internally only, and how you are leveraging this feature to it's fullest capability. Please Private Message or email me if interested. Thanks!

  • Only newish to Plant SCADA, and perhaps this is not the place to bring this up (particularly if I am doing something wrong...). We are using the equipment model for the following reasons

-Create bulk tags for different block types

-Utilise the features available in the SA architecture (e.g. nested equipment hierarchy, context functions etc)

Currently using 2023 (8.4), and finding a few limitations with automatically populating Configuration Parameters. Seems that only new instances are created into the grid if:

-A default value is defined in the Equipment Type

-A new equipment is added in Equipment Editor or added into the grid in Plant SCADA Studio

New instances of Configuration Parameters are not generated if

    -Default value is blank

-The equipment type is updated with a new parameter

-Excel DBF editor or CSV Import are used to create new instances of Equipment

Seems like to do bulk equipment generation, we'll have to generate these parameters via a macro in Excel

    Cheers,

    Dane
