Upgrading from Citect Scada 2018 to 2020R2 then 2023R2 - a few questions in general

I'm currently Upgrading from Citect Scada 2018 to 2020R2 then 2023R2

i have a few questions in general

i have my project running in Plant Scada 2020R2 on my upgraded primary server (secondary is on Citect SCADA 2018)

  1. i am having trouble with Allen Bradley ABCLX I/O Devices communicating even though i have migrated my ini file and installed the latest driver V4.02.00.000
  2. what is the OPCLX driver for? does this replace ABCLX driver as i see there is an option to migrate to this. is this optional or Required ?
  3. noticed my secondary alarm database does not synchronize if i shut secondary down while primary is running then restart secondary - is this because they are different versions

Thanks in Advance

  •  Hi

    1. Please refer to FAQ of ABCLX in "Driver Reference Help" (Frequently Asked Questions). You can also launch it from Topology / IO Devices in Plant SCADA Studio.
    2. OPCLX communicates to ControlLogix system PLCs via the OPC DA protocol and Rockwell software OPC servers. The migration is optional depending on if ControlLogix system PLCs enable encrypted communication.
    3. For the online upgrade of alarm databases, the lower version of alarm server must be running in the "Main". So, in your case, the alarm server of Citect SCADA 2018 should be running as "Main" first, and the alarm server of Plant Scada 2020R2 then starts up as Standby and synchronize the alarm data from "Main". Please refer to Troubleshooting an Online Upgrade

    Hope this would help.
