Error on duplicated equipment that uses the same tag prefix.

I duplicated an equipment thinking so I can use different equipment type on the duplicated equipment. for example, the old equipment has only 1 decimal place and I didn't want to mess with it as I do not know the effect it will do on other system ie PI Vision. So i also duplicated the equipment type and changed the format on some of the items. This new duplicated equipment type is what I tried to tie with the duplicated equipment. When I compile, it is complaining about the trends...but i couldn't quite understand why. because technically, the equipment has a new name, unless trend is using the tag prefix because 2 equipment has now the same tag prefix.

  • Tag names must be unique, so you'd have to also change the tagprefix. However, you can update the equipment template to specify the format as a custom equipment parameter, therefore you can change the format per equipment instance.

  • Hi Minerva,

That is right you have to make sure the tag prefix is unique in your duplicated template.

If you go to the System model > Trends have a look for that tag prefix and see if there are two trends with the same Trend tag name.

Even though you are using equipment, the tag name must be unique. Plant SCADA supports dual referencing of tags: Equipment.Item or tag name. Both have to be unique across your system. (Excluding scenarios around clusters)
