Decommissioning and Transferring (OMI) visualization nodes/platforms between Galaxies on same network

Hi,

I need to undeploy and remove a win-platform from one galaxy and move it to another.  This platform is a operator/supervisory client computer.  I have had problems in the past deploying to a platform that was previously part of another galaxy. It was still somehow assigned to the old galaxy.  (Ended up reinstalling the OS and software)

Now  I do not have the option of completely cleaning up the OS on the physical machine.

What would be the correct sufficient steps to completely remove it and make it possible to use it for another galaxy?

1. Undeploy platform in galaxy

2. remove in platform manager

should that be enough?

or are there more steps?

thank you!!!

regards

Jakob

  • It's been a while (and many product versions) since I did this myself, but I remember it as just undeploying from one galaxy and then deploying the node in the new galaxy.

If you have different System Management Servers for the old and new galaxies you would need to reconfigure the node to join the Solution Security scope of the new galaxy (i.e. point the node to its new SMS). You would also need to verify that the node uses the same Network Account as the new galaxy, but I can't think of anything needed beyond that.

I guess there could be some internal mechanism that hasn't disengaged cleanly from the old galaxy, but I suspect you'll need Tech Support help for that unless someone else here has experience to share.
