warning related to PCS.Agent and System Management Server not activated

Hi folks, I have a system with two nodes, one with the GR and IDE and one running the engines, when I deploy the winplatforms I get a warning related to the PCS component, pointing out that due to me not haveing a SMS activated the communication is non encrypted etc....

"Non-Encrypted communication channel established with scadadev(IServiceContentProvider). Secure this channel by installing System Management Server on both nodes and upgrading to the latest version of both client and server products."

The question I have... is this a error I should worry about,  (I have this policy about no error in my logs) or is it just telling me that the communication is non encrypted and I can continue without looking further into it. I do not intend to activate a SMS unless it is absolutely needed. I put a screenshot of the log messages below.

    The errors should be expected if you are not using SMS. You need to make sure all involved nodes have SMS turned off if not used as I expect a 'mixed mode' could cause issues.

    But if used then we have encountered PCS issues in several of our implementations. Due to several reasons, they were all resolved by uninstall PCS, clean registry and install it again.

    So the following might help someone with similar issues and SMS active.

    • Exact steps differ somewhat depending of your exact version. For example Patch 01 for 2023 R2 has stand alone installer available in the patch directory.


    First, please ensure that you have SP 2023 R2 P01 on the client machine. If yes, please uninstall the Archestra Framework (AVEVA Platform common services) and reinstall it again from the Patch ISO. 

    Steps: 
    1- uninstall the Archestra Framework (AVEVA Platform common services) from control panel then restart the machine. 
    2- Open the Patch ISO and navigate to \Patches\CD-PCSFramework then run ASBFrameworkInstallx64.msi as administrator 
    3- restart the machine, then open the configurator and reconfigure the SMS and the rest of the steps.
