OMI web client not accessible on a remote node

I am trying to access OMI web client on a remote node, but it is not opening it keeps loading. On the GR it opens perfectly. The node I am trying to access OMI web Client with I have installed the ASB root certificate and it's on the same network as the GR. I am using Edge and Mozilla fire fox as the browser.

What could be the issue?

Thank you

  • Hi
Unfortunately, this is not a solution
I am experiencing the same problem
The OMI Web only seems to work on deployed nodes from the same galaxy.
On a machine not on the galaxy it just continues loading. I also imported the certificate
This is concerning as AVEVA claims to be web capable for quite some time now.
This would add worlds of value if I can get it working on any machine outside of the galaxy

  • I successfully tested both Android and iOS browsers against the OMI Web server (SP2023R2SP1). That said, I have also had the same issue with the endless loading - and assumed this would refer to security settings - but I moved on with something else ;-)  I will subscribe to this article to see if you get any positive response. Maybe you should raise a case with support :-)

  • Hi,

This error is common when you do not have the correct Certificate in place, but you mention that you have installed the ASB root certificate on your remote node, so it might not be the case in this situation.

    But its worth verifying,
When navigating to your server, does the web-browser show any indication of invalid certificate?

    vs.

Did you make sure to install the ASB certificate in your Trusted Root Certificate storage?

On your client, can you locate the certificate in the Certification Storage? (manage computer certificates)

(After installing the certificate, moo-cows for everyone!).

To add to the verification, how did you export the ASB certificate?

I made the following guide based on what I had to do to get a client, that has no AVEVA software installed, to access my deployed OMI application in a lab environment.

On your server hosting OMI Application,
    Start the Manage computer certificates

Locate your local ASB Root CA and use Export (Right click, All Tasks - Export)

Move and install the exported .cer file on your client machine, (I have also successfully tested on a Android device)

You can just open the .cer file and click Install Certificate

    Select Local Machine

Its better to manually select the store as Trusted Root Certification Authorities

    Finalize the install

Restart your web-browser, that should be it!

Also make sure that you don't have any errors in OCMC, such as failed Web client licenses etc.

  • Thank you very much I will confirm if I installed the certificate in the correct manner
