Omron TCP/IP

Hi All,

Currently I have a OMRON CJ2M CPU14 with OMRON CJ1W-ETN21. The plc programmer told me that he converted the FINS to Modbus TCP/IP so I tested to use Modicon- MBTCP all of the drivers but not working. Is there any solutions to overcome this issue or what items that I need to look for?

  • Does the application same functionality as modscan32?

  • Both of them are used for testing connectivity with the devices of Modbus protocol. I am not an expert of using OI drivers. But I did test OI PCS Plugin with MBTCP driver talking to ModSim devices.

Here is the workflow of configuring MBTCP driver talking to ModSim and hope it would help you.

    • Launch Operations Control Management Console (type in aaSMC from Windows Start Menu)

    • Locate Modicon - MBTCP and then right mouse click on node Port and select Add ModbusBridge Connection, as shown below

    • Give the connection a name and fill in the network address and port number as shown below, and then click on Save on the top-right menu.

    • Right-mouse click on the newly created connection and select Add ModiconMicro Connection as shown

    • In the parameters tab, give PLC Unit Id as shown below, the same as defined in ModSim32

    • In Device Groups tab, right-mouse click on grid and add a group with Interval = 1000 ms. Save the changes

    • Start MBTCP service.

    • Here is the test result

If you are still unable to get the communication going with your OMRON PLC, you should contact Technical Support for further troubleshooting.

  • Thanks Jacky for you guide, I manage to solve the problem.
I found out that the PLC only accepting one connection at a time only. If I running another scanner like modscan and Modbus Tester it will block my connection from SMC that try to connect to which I keep failing to connect. Once I disconnect the scanner connection and let SMC to connect, it works well and need to fine tune some settings inside the driver.

  • Thank you for your feedback and glad that you have resolved the issue.
