Uninstall question

Is there a "proper" way to uninstall the IWS v8.1 system files on my target PC, or is it a matter of just moving the file folder to the Recycle Bin?.

  • Use Add/Remove programs to uninstall properly. You can save your projects by simply copying the folder of where these are saved on your PC. Also, you don't have to uninstall if you are just going to a newer version, as the two versions can co-exist on your pc.
  • Thanks Nathan. And if nothing IWS related appears under Add/Remove Programs then I'm guessing all I need to do is delete them. (I am talking about my target PC, and not my IWS development PC. I'm having an issue related to my license hardkey as was told to uninstall IWS system files from my target PC.)
  • If your target PC is running an embedded runtime or IoT View, you only need to delete the files manually since IWS is not installed, just some system files are transferred from your development station to the runtime station.

If you're having problems making your hardkey work, it would be beneficial if you can describe the problem so we can suggest how to proceed.
  • Hi Miguel. It's taken care of. To my original question, there was nothing to uninstall because I hadn't already performed a full install on my target. I was downloading system files from my development system.

For my runtime license hardkey to work, I needed to perform a full install of IWS v8.1 on my target. Once I got that straightened out, my hardkey was recognized and everything is working as expected.
