InTouch Authentication via Smat Card

Dear all,

Several clients and system integrators often ask us for more information regarding the Smart Card authentication method in InTouch.

I can find some guidance in the Help documentation and have come across older Tech Notes,

https://softwaresupportsp.aveva.com/#/knowledgebase/details/000022839?lang=en_us

In the readme file I found these as suggested devices:

  • Smart Card: Raak Technologies C2-40 Mini Driver Smart Card
  • Smart Card Reader: OK 3021 USB Smart Card Readers

but I’m struggling to find more up-to-date details, particularly regarding the types and models of Smart Cards that can be used (NFC Reader, Barcode Reader, QR Code Reader).

Do you have any updated manuals or information to share?
Thanks

  • Hi Luca, hope you are doing well !

I have tried this and found it extremely outdated in the past ! it also restricts you to very specific cards and readers. My answer to this has been AuthLite and / or ThinManager. I use these two products depending on the use case to achieve multi-factor authentication, i really enjoy their support with different methods of authentication ( fingerprint, OTP, card reader ). I believe AVEVA is going to use AIM ( AVEVA Identity Manager ) which will have features to use MFA and it will work with most AVEVA products, but i don't see any timelines put on this.
