OFS and a generic Modbus, Citect SCADA

Hi,

I need an advice regarding the best way to approach the following issue:

I need to get data from some generic Modbus devices, display data in Citect SCADA and also make data available through an OPC server to other OPC UA clients.

My first plan was to use OFS to collect data from the Modbus devices and connect Citect SCADA to OFS as a client. Also the other applications would connect to the same OFS server.

This looks not feasable because, as I've understood, OFS can connect only to few families of Schneider devices.

Is my understanding correct?

What would be the best way to do this?

Thank you,

Arian

  • Hi,

The problem was to set the correct driver in OFS configuration tool. I first used 'Unity' but this driver uses non standard Modbus functions (so it can be used only with Schneider PLC's), than PL7 worked OK for a standard PLC.
The second issue was to build a .SCY file to import the tags definitions. I can provide some sample files if you need.
I've tested with both DA and UA clients and works OK.
