Question about Control Client licenses

Hello All,

I would like to ask what is the difference between these two types of Control Client licenses: "Citect SCADA Control Client" and "Citect SCADA Control Client, Redundant".

Our system topology consists of two Citect SCADA 2018 server computers (with redundancy configured) and two control client computers. The SCADA system can be operated with either of the two client computers through their user interfaces.

Which licenses should be configured in these two Control Client computers? I presume both server computers should have the "Citect SCADA Server" licenses installed, but how about the clients? Should they have Citect SCADA Control Client or Citect SCADA Control Client, Redundant licenses? We would like each of the four computers to have their own local floating license instead of installing all the licenses on the server computers. Is this possible?

Thanks!

  • Hi Arttu,

The Clients should have the "Citect SCADA Control Client" license and yes this is possible.
In your case the server have their Server license and each of the 2 clients has their own "Citect SCADA Control Client" either using USB or a SW license (FLM).

The "Citect SCADA Control Client, Redundant" is only applicable if you would have the license floating on the redundant servers.
In that case you would need 2x "Citect SCADA Control Client" on the primary server and 2x "Citect SCADA Control Client, Redundant" to always be sure you can run these 2 clients if one of the servers is down.
