Question about Control Client licenses

Hello All,

I would like to ask what is the difference between these two types of Control Client licenses: "Citect SCADA Control Client" and "Citect SCADA Control Client, Redundant".

Our system topology consists of two Citect SCADA 2018 server computers (with redundancy configured) and two control client computers. The SCADA system can be operated with either of the two client computers through their user interfaces.

Which licenses should be configured in these two Control Client computers? I presume both server computers should have the "Citect SCADA Server" licenses installed, but how about the clients? Should they have Citect SCADA Control Client or Citect SCADA Control Client, Redundant licenses? We would like each of the four computers to have their own local floating license instead of installing all the licenses on the server computers. Is this possible?

Thanks!

  • In the Project Editor make sure that you configure the Network Adress for your server as a real IP-adress or host name, NOT the loopback address 127.0.0.1 or localhost. Recompile if you made any changes.

After compilation, please run the Computer Setup Wizard on all servers and clients and check the following:
    1. On the "Computer Role Setup" tab, make sure you select "Control Client" on your client machines.
    2. On the "Computer Role Setup" tab, make sure you uncheck "Full License" on your client machines.
    3. On the "Server Authentication" tab, make sure you enter the same password on all machines.
