Citect Virtualization

Any successful project with Citect over hyper-V, with soft keys and replicas working? (Citect Scada 8.2 / 2 full servers primary and standby / 2 control clientes - Windows server 2016 datacenter)

  • To be honest, most customers I've spoken to use VMWare. They have high availability architectures, some even with hot standby arrangements. All works well as long as the VM images are not copied or modified in any way to inavalidate the softkey. One thing you need to be aware of is that disaster recovery is not supported by the softkey mechanism, since the machine ID is modified and makes the license invalid. If this is something you require, I would recommend using USB dongle with AnywhereUSB. See tech note here: https://softwaresupportsp.aveva.com/#/okmimarticle/docid/TN10403
