Historian Variable Problem

Hello all,

I configured all my trend variables with "TRUE" in the column "Historize" and the values are inserted in the database correctly.

After that i configured some variables in variable list with "TRUE" in the column "Historize" but the values are not being entered in the database.

Any reason for not being in database?

Regards,

  • I want to follow this. I have the same problem with real values.
I'm using Citect Connector to Insight. I don't know what is your historian.
The trends are ok, Im my case the strings and digital values are also ok. Just the real values are not available in insight.
And the Alarms are also not there, but that is written in the connector. I hope it will be implemented soon.
  • I found an answer here in the forum from Chris in october 2019:
"The connector with only works with digital and strings data types for the variable tags. If you need a floating point, it would be better to setup a new trend tag and mark the historize field to "true". You could create a new string variable tag with a internal IO device(disk IO), then convert the floating point to a string, writing it to that new string tag."

  • It would be good to raise this as an enhancement request. There is no technical reason why INT, REAL, etc. are not supported by the Variable tags to be Historized. I think the intention was that Customers would create Trend Tags for these. And for data types not possible to Trend, they provided access directly via Variable tags.
Be warned though, with Variable tags, you don't have backfill capability like you get with Trends. So you want to make sure the Connector is online all the time.
