Citect 'User and Data' folder location

Hi All

I made a typo while installing PlantSCADA with the 'User and Data' folder.  Is there a way of renaming the folder without breaking the installation?  What references need to be changed? The paths inside the citect.ini file need to be updated but how does PlantSCADA know where the citect.ini file is if I rename the folder?

  • Yes, it is possible on the same drive. I assume that you are using Plant SCADA 2023. 

    • Close all Plant SCADA applications
    • Rename the existing 'User and Data' folder to the desired one. For example, rename the default  "User and Data" folder - C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\ to C:\ProgramData\MySCADA\
    • Launch Registry Editor (as administrator)
    • Go to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citect\SCADA Installs\8.40"
    • Update key DefaultINIPath with the updated location
    • Use Notepad to open Citect.ini in .\Config folder
    • Locate section [CtEdit]
    • Update any path related to "User and Data" folder with the new locations. The highlighted ones should be replaced with MySCADA.
      • Config=C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\Config
      • USER=C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\User
      • DATA=C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\Data
      • RUN=C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\User\Example
      • Logs=C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\Logs
      • LASTDATABASEPATH =C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\User\Example
      • LASTSETUPPATH =C:\ProgramData\AVEVA Plant SCADA 2023\User\Example
