Plant SCADA and multiple user accounts on 1 Machine - is this possible ?

my question is "Will Plant SCADA work with multiple user accounts on the 1 Machine."

i have a client workstation that operators use to access Plant SCADA 2018 (V8.1) in the past up to a few weeks ago all operators used a generic account, and all was well.

there has been an IT Dept change now where all operators have their own unique account, therefore i have noticed the run time license fails after a minute.

i can see and read the physical USB key successfully in the account for the operator who reported this, but it fails after a minute when runtime is launched.

  • Can you confirm your exact setup?

E.g. Is there a generic account logged into Windows Machine, but inside Plant SCADA you are using Windows Security and each user is logging in with their own credentials?

    Or

Is each user logging into Windows with their windows credentials, then starting Plant SCADA runtime?

I am guessing this is the setup?

Are there any errors listed in the syslog.dat

  • Hi Bradley,

its each user logging into Windows with their windows credentials, then starting Plant SCADA runtime.

i have yet to investigate this further as we are into prep work to shutdown for projects maintenance of the Plant, i may have to pick this up in the new year. please provide any info in the interim.

  • Please ensure that "Sentinel System Driver" is updated to latest version (7.6.1) which is available on the Thales Group support website.

  • This should work. Plant SCADA by default is installed into non-user folders.

Sounds like you have already verified CiUsafe can get to the key from the user account so it is very strange that runtime cannot.

Definitely have a look at your syslog and see if anything stands out.

Are all machines having this problem, or just one?

If just one, perhaps try the old reinstall step.
