  • Hi Peder.

On your attached schematics you connect your barcode scanner to a PLC, if this is the case the 'barcode' has to be forwarded to an Application Server object using a communication driver for your PLC, and when a new barcode is scanned, prompt this as new barcode to use on the 'client'.

So on the client you prompt the active user to confirm it for usage.

If its stand alone InTouch you will try to do similar but use PLC driver-> access name -> tags to capture the barcode and prompt the user.

The alternative is to have a barcode reader as an extended keyboard, since you mention that you want to use USB Bar Code Reader this might be what you are aiming for?

The challenge here is to ensure you have focus on the input field when scanning.

Another thing to explore is the usage if the tablets camera to scan barcodes, but that would require some more thought to integrate with your client application.

But perhaps someone else here has more experience with this?

Working with tablets as android clients is fun, please have a look at https://www.fully-kiosk.com/#get-kiosk-apps

I have seen some advantages for usage since you can lock the user in the web session, if its wall mounted you could have the screen turn on when someone approaches the tablet. (using the built in camera).
