Faster method to modify Equipment types?

Hi All,

Just wondering if there is a faster means to editing equipment types? I have number of items (tags/alarms) in one equipment type that I wish to copy to another.

Is this feasible by copy/paste in eqtype.DBF ? I don't currently have a version of DBF add-in installed.

Follow up question, dbf add-in installer doesn't work in my version of excel:

- Citect SCADA 2018 R2

- Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2204 Build 16.0.15128.20158) 64-bit

Is there a workaround or another means of working with these files? Libreoffice ?

Cheers,

  • update, I have discovered the collection of equipment .XML files in my project directory.

Is it possible to copy/paste these fields between types? I'm hesitant as there seems to be unique elements that could corrupt something else.

  •  , you can copy the fields either in the editor or xml, but in both cases there are "gotchas".  The GUID needs to be unique, so in the XML editor you will need to make something up for that.  Some combination of equipment name and item should guarantee that.  in the editor, it is possible to have 2 types open and copy between them, but you have to hold your tongue right and I can't remember the exact details.
