ABCLX and ControlLogix V34 Firmware

Hey Guys.

Has anyone successfully gotten the latest ABCLX driver inside of PlantSCADA to talk to an L8x series Processor running the V34 firmware?

Customer is demanding it. We've tested a project while talking to V33 firmware and everything is fine. Once we update, comms cease to exist.

My guess is Rockwell changed something and the ABCLX driver needs updated

Any ideas?

  • Hi  ,

I recommend reaching out to AVEVA Technical Support to discuss this issue.

I have observed customers reporting initial problems connecting to certain PLC models with V34 firmware, but there has also been feedback of successful communications after tuning the Citect.ini parameters. I'm not comfortable sharing that information here, as I don't want to bypass official support channels.

Longer term though, I think the best strategy is to transition you communications configuration to the OPCLX driver, since it will use an official Rockwell API to communicate with the PLC. There is definitely a risk that one day Rockwell decides to make a change that renders the ABCLX (reverse engineered protocol driver) non-functional.

    Kind regards
